For Roja Dove, one of the most celebrated British perfumers in history, that moment happened when he was six years old. He remembers it vividly: his mother, dressed elegantly for an evening out in a golden lamé cocktail dress, leaned over to kiss him goodnight before leaving. The soft glow from the hallway lit her like an ethereal figure. The scent of her perfume and face powder lingered on his cheeks long after she had gone. In that singular, fleeting, tender moment, the love affair with fragrance began. A Goodnight Kiss is Roja Dove’s most personal creation — not a fragrance about a note, or a material, or a concept.
