Maison Crivelli founder Thibaud Crivelli has made it his life’s work to find perfume raw materials in places no one else is looking. Oud Maracujá was born from the most vivid of these encounters: tasting maracujá — the intensely tropical, mouth-puckering Brazilian passion fruit — in the middle of a remote oud wood forest, in huts on stilts, surrounded by the deep, resinous, smoky heat of agarwood and the humid warmth of the jungle around it. The contrast between the thirst-quenching, acidic luminosity of the fruit and the dark, almost animalic depth of the oud is exactly what makes Oud Maracujá so extraordinary: two things that have no business being together, yet feel completely, almost alarmingly inevitable in the bottle.

Created by internationally acclaimed perfumer Jordi Fernández — the nose behind Ex Nihilo Scarlet Sands and some of the most beloved niche releases of recent years — at 32% extrait concentration using ORPUR-certified natural raw materials from Givaudan, Oud Maracujá is the fourth chapter of Maison Crivelli’s Extrait de Parfum collection and their boldest creation to date. The opening arrives with vivid, tropical immediacy: ripe Passion Fruit Accord, tangy Fruity Notes, and the warm golden spice of Saffron crash together in a burst of exotic, luminous sweetness, joined by the honeyed fullness of Turkish Rose Absolute ORPUR for a heart-stopping first impression that is unlike anything else in niche perfumery. As the fruit accord begins its natural evolution, real Agarwood (Oud) rises from the heart: not a synthetic oud accord, but the genuine, smoky, resinous depth of actual oud wood, joined by Benzoin from Laos ORPUR, and the earthy richness of Indonesian Patchouli Oil ORPUR. The dry-down is where Oud Maracujá fully claims its throne: Leather, the dry spiced woodiness of Akigalawood, warm Amber, creamy Vanilla, and the resinous warmth of Cistus Labdanum from Spain ORPUR weave together in an extraordinarily complex base that is simultaneously dark and bright, warm and vivid — and impossible to stop smelling.
