In 2023, Amouage released Guidance and it instantly became one of the house’s most celebrated modern creations — a masterful reinterpretation of the Amouage triad of Rose, Frankincense, and Ambergris by perfumer Quentin Bisch under Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon. A year later, Salmon and Bisch returned to the same formula with a singular creative brief: don’t remove anything. Add instead. Heighten the contrasts. Reveal more of what lives at the heart of the Guidance story. The result is Guidance 46 — an Exceptional Extrait dosed at an extraordinary 46% pure perfume oil concentration, one of the highest Amouage has ever produced. The ‘46” is not arbitrary: it is the exact oil concentration, a number that also carries the resonance of the latitude at which certain key ingredients are sourced.

The opening is immediately more opulent than the original — luminous Pear and smoky Frankincense arrive together in a tension of sweet and sacred, framed by aromatic Hazelnut, delicate Rose Water, bright Pink Pepper, and a quietly bitter Almond note that adds intrigue and depth. The heart is where Guidance 46 separates itself most completely: golden Saffron and lush Centifolia Rose bloom at the centre, flanked by silky Sambac Jasmine and sun-kissed Osmanthus in a floral accord of extraordinary richness that is simultaneously warm, soft, and deeply feminine without being gendered. The dry-down is a masterclass in base construction — resinous Cistus, creamy Sandalwood, the dark, mineral depth of Akigalawood, the skin-bonding warmth of Orientalgris, rich Vanilla, velvety Ambrette, the woody luminosity of Georgywood, and the earthy intensity of Cypriol weave together into a base that is impossibly complex, deeply personal, and genuinely long-lasting.
