Guerlain – Rose Centifolia Extrait 1 Parfum
Rose Centifolia Extrait 1 Parfum by Guerlain
Extrait de Parfum | Unisex | Les Extraits Signature | L'Art & La Matière | 2023
The rose, in its most perfect form. Nothing more. Nothing less.
At the heart of Guerlain's story, there has always been one flower: the Centifolia rose — the May rose — sourced from Grasse, France since the very founding of the Maison. Rose Centifolia Extrait is the house's most reverent tribute to it. Created by master perfumers Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser, it is part of the Les Extraits Signature collection — an extraordinary line of extracts that embody the quintessence of the Guerlain trail and pay homage to the six raw materials of Guerlinade, the iconic olfactive signature of the house. The name carries its own poetry: the Grasse Centifolia must be distilled within a single day of harvesting to preserve its extraordinary fragrance — and that golden number is exactly one.
At 30% concentration, this is the most powerful, purest expression of rose Guerlain has ever bottled. The opening is immediate and opulent — a majestic, slightly jammy, honeyed rose that is neither sharp nor powdery, but alive and almost tactile. At the heart, the rose reveals its spiced, carnal facets: rich, warm, and intoxicating, the way a real rose smells when you press your face into it. The dry-down deepens into swirls of Frankincense (olibanum) and intense Patchouli — earthy, slightly dark, and deeply sensual — anchoring the rose in a base that lingers for hours. Two sprays is all you need. The bottle, inspired by Guerlain's iconic heritage Square Bottle from 1870, is decked in gold for the collection.
